FIFA 16 and Office 2016 top our five recommended apps this week

Welcome back to Softonic, where we have once again spent our week searching for the best, brightest, and most interesting apps for you to give a try. And here are this week’s five picks. First up is Basil, an app designed to help you find, organize, and cook your favorite recipes. Finding recipes on Basil is simple thanks to its multiple tags. What we enjoyed about it was how it helped create a shopping list from the selected recipe, even selecting lists by department for easy shopping. This actually is the third major update for Basil, designed to make full use of iOS 9 – for Windows Phone or Android users we’d recommend giving Epicurious a go. Great, now I’m hungry. Next we have the first app developed for Apple for Android… no I didn’t stutter, Move to iOS is an app designed to make it easy to transition from Android to iPhone. This means that when you finally get bored of the question “why didn’t you get an iPhone?” and decide to buy one, it’s now easy to transfer your contacts, messages, and photos over without the need for any cables. Third is FIFA 16. If you are excited for this we are sure you have already tried the demo – well the time is now, you can buy it today. If you haven’t been keeping up, the latest installment of the game now includes pre-season training for created players, new weather conditions, more than 900 songs recorded in real stadiums, new screenshots of the star players, new stadiums, and best of all for the first time Women’s teams. Everything you need for the perfect simulation of the beautiful game… if you like that kind of thing. Snapchat is next, and yes, I know it isn’t new – but it now lets you use Lenses to add some lively fun to your selfies before sending. A new “Lens” rotates through each day – including the rather upsetting weeping face - keeping things constantly fresh. As part of this update you can now also pay for more replays, allowing you to rewatch one chat you have already seen once a day – then as always it will be deleted forever. Snapchat is good fun, and if you have never used it, now is a good time to try. Finally this week we have Office 2016. Now the preview version has been out for a while, so we have known for a while that it was shaping up well, but this final release should see a lot more people starting to enjoy its new subtle updates. These changes include better integration between Onedrive and Outlook, a fantastic new Tell Me search function to more quickly find the function you want, and lots of smaller behind the scenes tweaks to make your working experience more streamlined.
