Chinese netizens measuring their 'fitness' by hiding their wrist behind a coin

CHINA — Chinese netizens have found another way to prove how thin they are on social media.

Like the "thigh gap" and "bikini bridge" photos that surfaced in America, Chinese netizens have developed their own quirky ways of showing their "fitness."

The latest trend is called the "一元硬币手" challenge, which roughly translates to "one yuan coin hand." Basically, if you can hide your wrist behind a a one yuan coin, you have passed the "fitness" test of being thin enough.

The diameter of a one yuan coin is 25 mm (0.98 inches), so you can imagine why this is a "challenge."

Previously, Chinese netizens have tried to prove their fitness by wrapping a 100 yuan note around their wrist; covering their waists with a sheet of paper, wrapping one arm around their backs and touching their belly buttons, and placing coins in the nook of their collar bones.
