UNHCR opens new camp for displaced in north Iraq

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees has opened a new camp in a football stadium in the northern Iraqi town of Debaga for people displaced as the Iraqi military presses its offensive Islamic State jihadists in Mosul. As fighting rages, "up to 30,000 newly displaced individuals may arrive in Makhmur in the coming weeks," the UNHCR said in a statement.
