This Bee Gets Brutally Used By Parasite For Mating Purposes

The mining bee is susceptible to an altogether terrifying form of trauma exacted by a brutal parasite that uses its body as an incubator for its own brood.

Some mining bees suffer a distinct and altogether terrifying form of trauma, according to a study recently published in the journal Scientific Reports.
Whitish and grey-haired, the mining bee lives in cavities in the ground and mostly feeds on nectar and pollen collected from willow trees.
But part of their idyllic life is the threat posed by the twisted-winged parasite.
These insects use the bees as incubators for their offspring. And the process by which they do so is quite brutal.
Females lives as parasites in the mining bees' abdomen--most of their body hidden inside the host.
