ARLINGTON, TEXAS — A former Marine with a gun was shot dead as he attempted to make a citizen's arrest of a soldier who had just shot his wife in the parking lot of a Walgreen's pharmacy, police said.

The shooter, 22-year-old Ricci Bradden, fled the scene, but later turned himself into police, authorities said in a statement.

Police said Bradden went to the Walgreen's store located on New York Avenue in south Arlington on Monday morning, where his wife was working, and got into an argument with her in the parking lot. Bradden then shot her in the leg.

Anthony Antell Jr., 35, witnessed the shooting and went to his car to get his own gun and tried to intervene between Bradden and his wife, Arlington police Lt. Chris Cook said.
But as Bradden tried to leave the scene in his car, Antell tried to stop him and pointed his gun at Bradden.
According to authorities, Bradden then got out of his car and exchanged gunfire with Antell and killed him.

Police said they are unsure if Antell was able to fire his own gun.
Antell's wife was also at the scene and witnessed the killing.
