According to a news release issued by the University of Hawai‘i, for the first time, researchers have identified a tailless comet which is believed to contain material from the time of the inner Solar System’s creation.
Based on the orbital period of 860 years, the team was able to attribute its origin to the Oort Cloud which is an area on the outskirts of the Solar System that contains debris flung off from this beginning period.
Scientists became intrigued with this comet, named C/201
