Comcast buys DreamWorks Animation for $3.8 billion

Comcast’s NBCUniversal will buy DreamWorks Animation for $41 per share, valuing DreamWorks at nearly $3.8 billion Shares in DreamWorks soared 24 percent in early trading Thursday, hitting a 52-week intraday high. Comcast shares were up slightly as well The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2016 NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke said DreamWorks will help the company to "grow [its] film, television, theme parks and consumer products businesses for years to come."
