Four orcas, including a calf, trapped in ice in Sakhalin, Russia, were rescued on April 19, 2016. The animals were trapped in the icy, shallow waters only 10 meters from shore. Members from the Ministry of Emergency Situations were called in to help free the orcas. As the large ice floes were broken up, the animals were able to move into deeper waters and swim away.
