Waving flags and singing revolutionary songs, about a hundred Aleppo residents demonstrated against the Syrian regime in the city's rebel-held neighbourhood of al-Mashad. Fierce fighting raged Friday around Aleppo as a surge in violence forced tens of thousands more to flee their homes, overshadowing the latest round of peace talks in Geneva.
