Clinton and De Blasio criticized for racially tinged joke
  • 8 years ago
Hillary Clinton and New York mayor Bill de Blasio drew criticism this week for a racially tinged joke at the Inner Circle dinner in New York City on Saturday. In the skit, Clinton thanks De Blasio for his belated support, and the mayor replies: ‘Sorry, Hillary. I was running on CP time,’ an acronym for ‘colored people time’ that some in the audience were shocked to hear from the mayor, who is white. Actor Leslie Odom Jr, who is black, then says: ‘I don’t like jokes about that, Bill,’ after which Clinton delivers her punchline, saying it stands for ‘cautious politician time’.
