Arab-American Family SLAM United Airlines For Kicking Them Off A Plane 'Because They Are Muslim'

Eaman-Amy Saad Shebley along with her husband and three children were were flying from Chicago to Washington DC with United Airlines when both an air hostess and the pilot asked them to 'step off'. Mobile phone footage captured the incident in which the family claim they were targeted for 'how they look'.Shebley posted the video to Facebook saying, 'Shame on you United Airlines for profiling my family and me for no reason other than how we look and kicking us off the plane for "safety flight issues" on our flight to DC for the kids spring break. My three kids are too young to have experienced this'. The mother had inquired about five-point harnesses (a form of seatbelt) for their kids but the flight attendant who comes over says she had no idea what they were talking about. 'What's going on?' she asks quietly as she leans over their seats. 'I don't know you tell us, they didn't tell us anything,' the mother the attendant then says, 'We're going to ask that you step off the aircraft with all your belongings.' When Shebley's husband asks why, the lady replies, 'because they are investigating.' A second clip shows the pilot approaching the family who were travelling on spring break and Shebley's husband speaks up again: 'Now you're coming to tell me I need to get off the plane?' 'Yes sir,' the pilot responds calmly, his hands joined in front of him. 'Is it a discriminatory decision?' Shebley quizzes, but the pilot just explains that the family need to vacate the plane because 'it is a safety of flight issue.' After being ejected from the plane the family spoke to customer service who quickly apologized and got them on another plane. An official complaint was also filed. But United Airlines deny the incident had anything to do with the family's religious beliefs. They released the following statement: 'We rebooked them on a later flight because of concerns about their child's safety seat, which did not comply with federal safety regulations. 'Both United and SkyWest hold our employees to the highest standards of professionalism and have zero tolerance for discrimination.' The Executive Director of the Council on American Islamic Relations of Michigan Dawud Walid said regarding the episode: 'Unfortunately there's a growing problem on airlines of Muslims being removed from flights when they cause no reasonable security concerns.'
