As Long as it lasts

As Long As It Lasts is the research of the universal in particular. Inspired by the sculpture Torqued Ellipse of Richard Serra and the text “Joe” by Jonathan Safran Foer, the piece is a mixture of poetry, emotions and framed structured compositional choices based on the concept of an ellipse.

The starting point of the piece is a black box. The lighting is kept at a minimum, floor sidelights and the projection of white letters and sentences inspired by the text “Joe” on a white backdrop. The images are created life on stage by a VJ situated on the left down stage, and are captured by a camera connected to the beamer. The main light design is created through the white letters being framed by blackouts

As Long As It Lasts is a duet between two people, a dancer on stage and a virtual person on a screen. The relationship is being defined more and more through the development of the frames.
The sound during the piece consists out of voices talking fragments of “Joe” accompanied by low base waves overlapping and distorting each other. The soundtrack supports the development of the piece.

As Long As It Lasts is an attempt to integrate video into life performance, to make a two dimensional media into a three dimensional living performer. It is a fusion between two art forms.

As Long As it Lasts is an attempt to project the universe inside a miniature box into the traditional situation of black box.

As Long As It Lasts is giving time for contemplation, touches the audience and is gratifying the aesthetic desire.
