Family finds giant python under car hood

ZIMBABWE, AFRICA — A family in Zimbabwe had more than engine problems last week. The Mostert family discovered under the hood of their car a massive African rock python.

In a video posted on Facebook, Ben Mostert and his family open the hood of their car to discover the snake curled up on the engine. Mostert calmly grabs the python around the neck and slowly pulls it off the engine. Another man helps him carry the massive snake and toss it into the brush.

The Mosterts, living in Karoi, just north of Harare, have encountered the python before. "That was the second time the python was caught that day," Mostert told CNN.

He said that the family was warned upon moving in by previous tenants of their home that the snake has been seen around the area and has caused several lambs to go missing. Mostert found the snake earlier that day in the family's chicken house. He captured and released the snake about four miles away and that was when it crawled into his car.

According to the CNN report, Mostert was at a loss and didn't know what to do. He drove around slowly hoping the snake would fall off. Finally, he pulled over and pulled the snake off the engine.
