DARPA has recently released a phase 2 concept video showing the capabilities of Aurora Flight Sciences’ innovative VTOL X-Plane which is short for Vertical Takeoff and Landing Experimental Plane.

DARPA has recently released a phase 2 concept video showing the capabilities of Aurora Flight Sciences’ innovative VTOL X-Plane which is short for Vertical Takeoff and Landing Experimental Plane. 

At the center is an aircraft which can become airborne like a helicopter with no horizontal takeoff space needed.

It features two large wings in the rear and two smaller projections in the front which are each designed to house several rotating fans.
