Launch & Landing of SpaceX Falcon 9 with SES-9
  • 8 years ago
SpaceX successfully launched their second mission of 2016 tonight, March 4th 2016 at 23:35 UTC, with a Falcon 9 full thrust rocket carrying the SES-9 communications satellite into orbit for SES of Luxembourg.

After the first stage had shut down and separated from the second stage, it performed an experimental landing on a floating barge at sea, the outcome of which is unknown due to a loss of video signal from the barge. The first stage could not have attempted a landing at Cape Canaveral due to the specific SES-9 mission requirements this time around.
