Mountains on Earth are commonly topped with snow, and NASA astronomers now believe they have spotted a similar phenomenon on Pluto.

The area under consideration is a 260-mile-long mountain range in the area known as Cthulhu.

An image taken by the agency’s New Horizons spacecraft last year from about 21,000 miles away shows a bright material covering the tops of the highest peaks.

After some examination, scientists have determined that it could be, according to a press release, “methane that has condensed as ice.”
