Under the influence of Social Darwinism, the Nazis carried out a massive campaign of genocide and massacred millions of people they considered ‘inferior’. These people that they killed in gas chambers and by mass shootings included Jews, Romanis, East Europeans, as well as people with mental and physical disabilities and the elderly.
11 million people, 6 million of them being Jews, were killed in gas chambers set up in extermination camps. Many of them died due to starvation, illnesses and torture.
