Documentaire écrit et réalisé par Michel BRENT – 2008 – 52 min – Français, English, Dogon - Synopsis : Chaque année, des objets africains de grande valeur sont exportés illicitement et vendus en fraude sur le marché international de l’art. Au mépris des lois et toujours dans le plus grand secret. Pour la première fois, un documentaire raconte en détail l’étonnant parcours d’un de ces objets. Il s’agit d’un couple fétiche qui a disparu du sanctuaire où il était gardé depuis des siècles pour se retrouver en vente dans une galerie d’art à Paris. Depuis les circonstances du vol jusqu’aux motivations qui ont conduit à vendre en passant par le rôle des complices, les formes de corruption, les marges bénéficaires, l’évolution des mentalités et l’influence de l’Islam, l’auteur a pu tout décortiquer, tout analyser, tout dévoiler. Son enquête se passe au pays dogon : elle a commencé en janvier 2001 pour se terminer cinq années plus tard.

English – Summary : Every year, works of art of great value are smuggled out of african countries and sold on the international antiques market. For the first time, a documentary tells with full details the itinerary of a sacred object of particular importance, which disappeared from the shrine where it had been kept for centuries to end up at an antique dealer's in Paris. The author has been able to decrypt, analyse and reveal each aspect of the story: beginning with the circumstances of the theft, the motivations which led the thieves to sell the item, as well as the role of the accomplices, the intervention of corruption, as well as the evolution of mind-sets and influence of islam. The inquest takes place in Dogon country, Mali. It starts in january 2001 and concludes five years later.
