EPISODE 17-\r
\r
Well, because I did a Thanksgiving special last year, I thought I would make this an annual thing. that is, IF there are enough Thanksgiving specials to sustain it. Here, in honor of the blessed holiday AND the release of the new Peanuts movie, here I present to you a last-minute edition to the Cartoon Limbo queue- Charlie Brown: The Mayflower Voyagers. \r
\r
Apparently this was part on an ongoing series called This is America Charlie Brown, but in a sneaky way to grab ratings, for the past decade or so this has been featured as a companion piece to the original A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. No one ever watches this special. Well, I did. And Ill fill you in on everything you need to know.\r
\r
By the way, I wrote and edited this in a hurry, so if there is a single soul out there who is using this to write a school report- I didnt exactly get my facts straight. I think I owe you these corrections:\r
\r
The Pilgrims only consisted of a potion of the Mayflower passengers. There were also persons seeking wealth, indentured servants, and of course, crew members. Duh.\r
\r
There were a few deaths on the Mayflower voyage itself, but the Pilgrims really didnt succumb to disease and starvation until they reached the New World. I say they had to endure bitter cold at Cape Cod, but that really didnt occur until they reached Plymouth.\r
\r
Differing reports on this, but according to this special, the native Americans encountered at Cape Cod were not hostile, but rather, stand-offish, making the English settlers uneasy, thus aiding their decision to leave for Plymouth.\r
\r
There. even the explanation was boring! Can the Peanuts characters dress up this real-life tale and make this an interesting watch? Is this a new Thanksgiving tradition? Tune in, young viewers.
