Background\r
There are two versions of In The City: the first version (shown here) was first recorded by Walsh as a solo effort and released on the soundtrack for the 1979 film The Warriors. The second version of the song was recorded by Walsh with the Eagles and was included on their album The Long Run released later that year. Although not released as a single, the track became an album-oriented rock radio favorite in the U.S. and a Walsh concert staple. It is also featured on the Eagles 1994 Hell Freezes Over album and video. The song also appears on the 2013 album All Night Long: Live in Dallas which was recorded in 1981 and also featured his hits Lifes Been Good and Rocky Mountain Way.\r

In The City - Music and lyrics by Barry De Vorzon and Joe Walsh\r
Somewhere out on that horizon\r
Out beyond the neon lights\r
I know there must be somethin better\r
But theres nowhere else in sight\r
Its survival in the city\r
When you live from day to day\r
City streets dont have much pity\r
When youre down, thats where youll stay\r
In the city, oh, oh.\r
In the city\r
\r
I was born here in the city\r
With my back against the wall\r
Nothing grows and life aint very pretty\r
No ones there to catch you when you fall\r
Somewhere out on that horizon\r
Far away from the neon sky\r
I know there must be somethin better\r
And I cant stay another night\r
In the city, oh, oh.\r
In the city
