Source Of Perplexing Ocean ‘Buzzing’ Might Have Been Found

New research has found that the mysterious ‘buzzing’ that scientists have heard in the Pacific Ocean could be communication among smaller marine animals to migrate during feeding times.

Scientists have long wondered about the sound that can be heard deep in the Pacific Ocean, and now there might be an explanation.
New research from the University of California, San Diego suggests that it could be a “dinner bell” for smaller organisms like bony fish to signal that it’s dark enough to safely ascend closer to the surface to feed; alternatively, it tells them when to descend back down.
