More than 250 volunteers, brought together by Port Mansfield residents Kathie and Miller Bassler, made the journey to a remote 5-mile stretch of Padre Island National Seashore to remove 28 tons of trash, including plastics that can break down and enter the ecosystem, harming fish and other marine life.
