Escalator goes in reverse, sending Chinese shoppers tumbling down

NINGBO / CHINA — CCTV News video posted this video which shows an escalator in Ningbo China doing quite the opposite.
Now we all know that taking the stairs is better for your health but who would have guessed the payoff could be so immediate?
Luckily, out of the dozen or so people that were on the de-escalator, only five of them sustained minor injuries. This could have been a lot worse.
China has had a recurring problem with escalators failing to do their job. In 2014, 12 people in Shanghai were injured by an escalator in reverse. In 2011, an escalator in reverse proved fatal for one unlucky rider — 30 others were injured.
