1: Important record in Dr Asim’s case goes missing.
KARACHI: A case of corruption and terrorism against former petroleum minister Dr. Asim Hussain took a dramatic turn on Monday when it transpired that some important record of the case has gone missing.
According to sources, the record related to nexus between the MQM and Dr. Asim, senior PPP leader has been ‘misplaced’. The record was sealed and had to be presented in the court.
The investigation officer in the case has been served notice after loss of vital record.
The counsel of Dr Asim reiterated that his client was being subjected to personal vendetta.
Later talking to media, Dr Asim said may God protect the country if it is being run this way. Journalists promptly threw a question if he was talking about Asif Ali Zardari. Dr Asim replied, “Informed people can understand what I meant. I will not comment further on it.”
2: Baldia factory fire was a ‘planned conspiracy’ and case of extortion, reveals JIT report.
KARACHI: “The blaze that had erupted in Ali Enterprises a clothes factory in Karachi’s Baldia Town was no accident, it was rather a conspiracy. Some officer-bearers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had demanded Rs 200 million extortion from factory owners,” revealed the joint investigation team (JIT) report on Monday.
Nearly 250 people burnt to death after a horrific blaze erupted in the factory in September, 2012. The government formed a JIT to thoroughly investigate the matter, which has made startling revelations.
