Impressive footage has emerged from China of a large number of people walking on an old bridge and throwing money and clothes down from it to pray for peace in the next year.

In the video, filmed in Mianyang, Sichuan Province on February 12, thousands of people are walking on the bridge and some people are waiting under it using fishing nets to catch the money thrown down.

There is usually a heavy police presence at these events, mainly for crowd control.
