Incredible Footage of Annual Sardine Run

The sardine run in Southern Africa happens from May through July. Billions of sardines spawn in the cool Agulhas Bank before moving north along the east coast of South Africa. The shoals are over seven kilometers long and are often clearly visible from the surface of the water. In this striking footage, a group of birds swoop down on a sardine shoal, taking advantage of the sardine run phenomenon. Credit: YouTube/J Hawk Daily
