Murderer kills own mom just two days after release from 30-year prison sentence

ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY — A convicted murderer from New Jersey on Wednesday admitted to killing his own mother just two days after completing a 30-year jail sentence.
Steven Pratt, 47, pleaded guilty to manslaughter for killing his 64-year-old mother Gwendolyn at their Atlantic City home in October of 2014, the New York Daily News reported.
Gwendolyn Pratt threw a homecoming party when her son was released from New Jersey's Bayside State Prison on Oct. 10, 2014. But just two days later, Steven Pratt beat his mother to death during an argument, according to the New York Daily News.
An autopsy found that Gwendolyn Pratt died from massive blunt-force head injuries.
"I don't want a trial. I'm guilty," Steven Pratt told the court as he confessed to his mother's killing, the New York Daily News reported.
He must now serve more than 21 years of a 25-year prison sentence before he will be eligible for parole.
Pratt was just 15 years old when he killed neighbor Michael Anderson in 1984, according to the New York Daily News.
Pratt shot Anderson with a borrowed handgun after the pair argued about the boy and his friends being noisy in a hallway. In 1986, Pratt was tried as an adult and sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing Anderson.
