Pope Francis celebrates Mass for clergy in Michoacan, Mexico

Pope Francis continued his five-day visit to Mexico on Tuesday (February 16) with a Mass for clergy in the state of Michoacan, a hotbed of Mexico’s drug trade.
The pope urged Mexico’s priests not to resign themselves to a country dominated by drug-fueled violence and corruption, but rather to be inspired to get out of their comfortable lives and fight injustice.
In his homily, Francis told priests and nuns not to be paralyzed by resignation, which he calls the devil’s “favourite weapon.”
“What temptation can come to us from places often dominated by violence, corruption, drug trafficking? What temptations can we have in face all of that that?What temptations might we face with this reality, which seems to have become a permanent system? I think we can sum it up in a word: resignation.”
