Celle describes itself as a "town with energy". Oil has been pumped in the region since the 19th century. That attracted oil-related industries: specialized machine builders manufacturing everything from drill heads to derricks and whatever else was needed to produce oil. Now these enterprises are feeling the pinch and canceling many investment projects.
