Breaks 40 years Old Snowfall Record At Murree Road Abbottabad
Abbottabad: Thandiyani, Nathiagali and other hilly areas of Abbottabad received heaviest snow fall of the current winter season. Much awaited and expected snow fall followed by rain started in Abbottabad on the morning of Wednesday and with frequent intervals, it was raining and snow was falling in the area.

Abbottabad to Murree road was completely closed for all sort of traffic from Bagnotar onward while Abbottabad to Thandiyani road was also completely closed from Kala Pani. Inner roads in the entire Galyat were closed due to land sliding and snow fall.

11th February 2016 will be remembered for long as today Hazara Witnessed heavy snowfall after almost two decades. Nature has surprised the whole population with this blessing. People are seen enjoying the snowfall in Abbottabad and other areas of Hazara. Here are some moments captured during the snowfall.

Abbottabad received more than one foot snow fall on Thursday breaking the record for the last 40 years. Main and link roads were closed after receiving heavy snow fall. A thick blanket of snow also covered various parts of Pakistan including Gilliat, Mansehra, Murree and Azad Kashmir.

According to details Murree and Gilliat are receiving intermittent snowfall. Several roads heading to Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Bagh, Haveli, Hattian and Neelum district have also been closed for every kind of traffic due to fear of land sliding.

About 1 to 2 feet snowfall has been recorded in Toli Sadhan, Gali Pir, Chanasi and Neela Butt while Thandiani also received snowfall. Mansehra division and its adjoining areas also received heavy snow, however Tanawal has recorded snowfall after 11 years blocking connecting roads to Kaghan and Shinkiari.

Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted that the showers will continue in several areas including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, KP province, Gilgit, Baltistan and Kashmir in the next 48 hours.

Meanwhile the Margalla and Pir Sohawa on Thursday received light snowfall for two hours after ten years. A large number of people thronged to Margalla hills and Pir Sohawa to enjoy the snow after media reported that the city’s hill resorts receive snowfall after a decade.
