NASA just released an image from the Hubble Space Telescope that shows an intriguing galactic dance of sorts--at least two galaxies coming together to form one. 
Officially known as NGC 1487, the combined mass is some 30-million light-years away in the southern constellation of Eridanus.
Each merging galaxy has lost most of its defining characteristics, as gas and stars engage in a drawn out cosmic swirl-and-twist.
