Cleveland Browns to cut wasted first-round draft choice Johnny Manziel

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Browns partyboy quarterback Johnny Manziel is getting kicked off the team, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

After two years of off-the-field indulgences and controversies, it looks like Manziel won't be bench-warming for the Browns anymore when the new season starts on March 9.

Sashi Brown, the executive vice president of football operations for the Browns, released a statement Tuesday saying: "We've been clear about expectations for our players on and off the field. Johnny's continual involvement in incidents that run counter to those expectations undermines the hard work of his teammates and the reputation of our organization. His status with our team will be addressed when permitted by league rules."

Manziel's fate is unknown, but the team that drafted him as the 22nd pick in the first round two years ago reportedly wants nothing to do with him.

Manziel only played in 14 games over the two seasons. His poor on-field performance was overshadowed by paparazzi images of him partying.

He missed a number of games due to a hamstring injury, but he still managed to get in trouble for throwing a water bottle at a fan and flipping the bird to some hecklers.

Manziel's latest incident had police helicopters looking for him in Fort Worth, Texas following an altercation with his ex-girlfriend.
