SURRY COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA — Two Virginia Tech students have been arrested and charged for their alleged involvement in the death of a 13-year-old girl from Virginia.

According to police, teenager Nicole Lovell was last seen between 7 p.m. and midnight on Wednesday at her home in Blacksburg, Virginia. Her family found a dresser pushed up against her bedroom door, with authorities saying she likely climbed out of a window in the apartment. Lovell reportedly did not have a required daily medication with her when she went missing, prompting worries family her family, police added.

Lovell's body was later found in Surry County, N.C., near the Virginia border, according to authorities.

CNN reported that authorities arrested 18-year-old Virginia Tech student David E. Eisenhauer for his alleged involvement in Lovell's disappearance after garnering tip and clues from social media. He was charged after Lovell's body was found. Another Virginia Tech student, 19-year-old Natalie M. Keepers, was also arrested for allegedly helping Eisenhauer dispose of the teenager's body after she was killed, police said.

Blacksburg police said evidence indicates Eisenhauer was acquainted with Lovell before she disappeared, and he used that connection to abduct her before she was killed.

Police divers are searching a pond on the Virginia Tech campus in connection with the killing, Fox News reported.

"The focus of the investigation is now to reconstruct a timeline leading up to (the teen's) tragic death," Blacksburg Police Chief Anthony Wilson said. "This is the most devastating thing you can do to a family. We've got some very wounded folks in our community."
