Huge swells and waves hit coast of Viña del Mar, Chile

Dramatic footage has emerged from Viña del Mar, Chile where heavy waves have battered the coast over the last week.

In the video, filmed in Avenida Perú, the filmer is taken by surprise and others scream as huge waves come over the sea wall, hitting parked cars and causing destruction.

According to local reports, authorities have been expecting the conditions to continue in the popular tourist area and are putting safety plans into place.
