Relatively recent footage of the mountains of abandoned refugee life jackets on the Greek island of Lesbos.

The video, filmed at Eftalou on December 27, shows thousands life jackets piled up, which authorities say they don't have the means to dispose of.

Tens of thousands of people have made their way to Europe in the last year, mainly those fleeing the conflict in Syria and other parts of the Middle East.

A large number have landed on Greek islands.
