Zika outbreak: Globalisation and tropical diseases (part 1)
Move over Ebola: the planet faces a new threat. The Zika virus is spreading through the Americas with the WHO warning of a pandemic that can cause major birth defects. Health authorities say they're overwhelmed in their bid to spray the mosquitoes that carry the virus. Is advising women not to have children the best we can do? Are there alternatives to using potentially harmful pesticides? And as with Ebola and malaria, does it only become an issue when it reaches rich countries?
