In a recently posted piece on the website for SETI, or the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, senior astronomer Seth Shostak predicts three massive changes humanity will undergo in the 21st century or beyond, including breakthroughs in biology, space habitation, and artificial intelligence.

The first is a deeper understanding of biology which, along with technological advances, will likely result in cures for diseases as well as what he calls “designer babies.”
