The slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily were turned white on Saturday by snow as much of Europe experienced a cold snap.
The peak of the cold front hitting Italy is expected between Sunday and the beginning of next week, with scattered snow at sea level along the central-south Adriatic coastline and in the southern hills and Sicily.
