Suicide bomber who blew up 10 people in Turkey was reportedly from Syria

ISTANBUL — At least ten people were killed when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive in Istanbul, Turkey on Tuesday morning. The blast occurred between the Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosque tourist attractions.

Turkey's deputy prime minister said an investigation on the body parts found later at the scene reveal that the bomber was a Syrian national who was born in 1988.

The suicide bomber set off the explosion around 10:20 a.m. (3:20 a.m. ET), according to the Istanbul governor's office. At least 10 people, most of them foreigners, have been killed in an explosion in a tourist area of Istanbul, Turkish officials say. At least 15 people were also wounded in the blast.

Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said most of the victims were foreigners.
