Footage of the remarkably well-preserved body of a dead Buddhist monk who passed away in 2012 at the age of 94.

The video, filmed in Jinjiang, Fujian Province last Sunday, shows thousands of Buddhists gathering to take part in what's known as an "Open Cylinder" ceremony.

The dead monk, who was called Fuhou, practiced Buddhism for 81 one years and was placed in the cylinder when he died, preserving his body as a "mark of respect" by the Puzhao Temple.

Fuhou's body will now be covered in a gold substance and made into a Buddhist mummy.
