Prahlad was the son of demon King Hiranyakashyapu, an enemy of Lord Vishnu. Despite his father's strong objection little Prahlad prayed all day long to Lord Vishnu and became one of his ardent devotees. To teach Prahlad a lesson, Hiranyakashyapu even tried to kill him by burning him in flames, but Prahlad was saved by Lord Vishnu.
