Depression is serious medical illness that involves the brain. It's more than just a feeling of being "down in the dumps" or "blue" for a few days because feeling down from time to time is a normal part of life. But when emptiness and despair take hold and won't go away, it may be depression. Some people describe depression as "living in black hole" or having a feeling of impending doom. However, some depressed people don't feel sad at all instead, they feel lifeless, empty, and apathetic. Depression is different from normal sadness as it engulfs your day-to-day life, interfering with your ability to work, study, eat, sleep, and have fun. The feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, and worthlessness are intense and unrelenting, with little, if any, relief.
Happy music has the power to take away depression. Listening to Raga Bahar through a session of Music and Raga Therapy fills the listener with a feeling of bliss and cheerfulness making him intoxicated with joy. Even Raga Shankara and Todi have the power to relieve a person from depression filling the inside of the person with confidence and deep focus.
