False alarm at Stockholm's Arlanda airport
  • 8 years ago
Some disruption was reported at Stockholm’s Arlanda airport after a security alert early on Tuesday.

Sweden’s The Local reported that police were examining a suspicious package found in a rubbish bin outside one of the terminals.

The police later said that the object found was not dangerous.

The earlier reports said a car park had been cordoned off at terminals 2 and 3.

Some passengers said they had been unable to check in at terminal 2 and were told to wait in terminal 3, while others were apparently refused access to the building.

The airport’s website contained no information about the alert on Tuesday morning, and most flights appeared to be operating as normal.

There had been reports of delays of up to an hour to flights to some European destinations – but the disruption is not thought likely to last.

Arlanda is Sweden’s largest airport and an important regional and international hub.
