When Gloria accepted to meet Michel, who she contacted through a personal ad, nothing would have suggested the destructive and murderous passion that would be spurred on by their crazy love.
Alleluia is inspired by a real event which shook the United States from 1947 to 1949. The story of Martha Beck and Raymond Fernandez, or how a young nurse and a con man, a gigolo when circumstances required, plunged into a fatal tragedy.

Variety: "Cult profile."

The Hollywood Reporter: "Two rock-solid performances, gritty cinematography and an impressive mise-en-scene make for a great movie."

Libération: "Violent, carnal, explicit, and, at the same time, defused by almost comic breaks which initially seem inappropriate but which give this film its originality. Director Du Welz veers into surrealism, Alleluia disturbs and fascinates."

Le Monde: "Alleluia is a powerful macabre and sexual dance, a Dionysian ritual centered around the retention and explosion of feelings and violence."

Première: "Here at last is a film about crazy love, a real film, as beautiful as the encounter, on a dissecting table, between Bonnie & Clyde and Luis Buñuel."
