TIKEN JAH FAKOLY live @ Main Stage 2009

Parva was interviewed on the Rototom.tv set due to his presence at the Rototom Social Forum 2009.

Drawing his inspiration from Alpha Blondy (they come from the same country), this artist became internationally famous thanks to his African reggae and his lyrics about freedom. Tiken Jah Fakoly descends from a family of “griots”, the typical storytellers of the African oral tradition.

Since his single “Mangercratie” came out (in 1996) this revolutionary artist fights against the corruption of African politicians, in particular the ones from the Ivory Coast: in his country, indeed, he is considered by the regime a dangerous person and he is forced to live in exile in Bamako, in the nearby Mali. “Mangercratie” is also the title of his very lucky Debut album, followed by many collaborations with big Jamaican artists like Anthony B, U Roy, Sly & Robbie, and Chinna Smith. His last very appreciated CD “African revolution” has been released in 2010.
