Patriots fall to Dolphins, settle for No. 2 seed

Julian Edelman, Dont’a Hightower, Sebastian Vollmer, and Chandler Jones might be walking through that door someday soon, but the Patriots still will be bringing a two-game losing streak into the postseason.
Playing once again without a number of starters on both sides of the ball, the Patriots lost for the second straight week, for the fourth time in six games, and for the third straight season in south Florida.
Sunday’s 20-10 loss to the Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium also cost them the No. 1 playoff seed in the AFC.
Denver, not New England, owns home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs as the No. 1 seed by virtue of their 27-20 win over San Diego Sunday.
