NASA: US Expected To Feel Biggest Impacts From El Niño In 2016

This year's El Niño has already altered many global weather patterns and is projected to fully impact the United States in 2016.

The current El Niño is massive and shows no signs of abating, according to satellite imagery from NASA.
In fact, the system appears to nearly mimic 1997’s El Niño— the most destructive on record. The recently released images bear that out.
According to the space agency, "The images show nearly identical, unusually high sea surface heights along the equator in the central and eastern Pacific: the signature of a big and powerful El Niño. Higher-than-normal sea surface heights are an indication that a thick layer of warm water is present."
