Texas mall evacuated after hoverboard catches fire

HUMBLE, TEXAS — The Deerbrook Mall in Humble, Texas was evacuated after a hoverboard caught fire while it was still in the box. Nobody was injured and thanks to a mall employee, the too-hot-to-hover board was doused with a fire extinguisher.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on December 16 that they were investigating the safety of hoverboards following at least 22 reports of the toy catching fire.

So before you think about getting your Marty McFly on, make sure you practice your stop, drop and roll. And you might want to ask your firefighting friend to keep an eye on you.
