Diesel, the French police dog who died in the course of a raid on the mastermind of the Paris terror attacks is being honored with the Dickin Medal for gallantry, said to be the highest honor in the animal kingdom.

Diesel, the French police dog who died in the aftermath of the Paris terror attacks, will be honored with the Dickin Medal for gallantry.
The award is being given by the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals. According to the organization, "It is the highest animal honour in the world and Diesel’s will be the 66th PDSA Dickin Medal to be awarded."
The seven-year-old canine served with a special anti-terrorism unit of the French police.
