Peru: Guinea Pigs Used to Cure Illnesses in Shamanic Ceremony
  • 8 years ago
A traditional Peruvian shamanic ceremony was performed at the “Fair of Wishes” in a market in the capital city of Lima on Saturday. Although it may seem strange to many, Guinea pigs are used in this ceremony to cleanse disease and illness. They have been used in the ancient shamanic tradition to heal people for hundreds of years. The guinea pig is made to crawl on the patient’s body and diagnose the problem. Afterwards, the shaman rubs the animal all over the body, which should cause the illness to disappear. teleSUR
